Ashley John

Ashley, a member of the Navajo Nation tribe is Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the-Water clan), born for Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle clan). Her maternal grandfather is Naakaii Dine’é (Mexican Clan) and her paternal grandfather is Tó Dích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). She joined the Center for Indigenous Health in May of 2022. Ashley works as a Research Program Assistant II in Shiprock NM and is a part of the Honoring Life program and NativeVision. Ashley wants to be a positive role model by reaching out to youth and creating a positive outlook for them.

Prior to her joining the Center, she worked as a Correctional Officer at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque NM. Her role for that position was to “correct” others for their mistakes and become a role model for them as well.

She has a BA degree in Integrated Studies with Criminal Justice from Northern New Mexico College. She enjoys spending time with her family, enjoys taking her daughters to their sport events, and enjoys nature.
