Biography

Estar (Chickahominy tribe), joined the Center for Indigenous Health in March of 2015. She is the site supervisor and Infectious Disease supervisor at the Fort Defiance site. Estar has participated in various Infectious Disease programs through the Center and local public health activities. She assisted with several mass vaccination events with Fort Defiance, AZ, Gallup, NM, and Chinle AZ service units. She also helped and organized COVID-19 care package deliveries and various local chapter house donation programs to ensure that Navajo Nation communities were taken care of during the pandemic. Estar began her nursing career as a certified nursing assistant focusing on pediatric and geriatric populations. She advanced her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) at the University Of New Mexico and worked in emergency medicine and public health. Her work has been serving the community she is from for the last eleven years as an RN. She received her BSN in Nursing in 2018. She enjoys spending time with family, fishing, and hiking during her leisure time.
