About
Bonita is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and is half Mexican. She joined the Center in February 2025. Bonita works as a Family Health Coach with the Great Plains Hub in Rapid City. She has taken the initiative to implement the Lakota culture and language into the TOD curriculum.
Before joining the Center, Bonita was a full-time student at Oglala Lakota College, where she recently graduated with her BA in Lakota Studies and a Lakota Language Certificate. She is currently pursuing an A.A.S specializing in Office Technology. After graduation, she has plans to pursue an M.A in Public Health.
In Bonita’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her three kids and her cat. She enjoys hiking, swimming, football, soccer, boxing, and running 5 Ks.
