Biography
Amanda is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. She is Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan) and born for the Hooghan’ání (Many Hogans Clan). Her maternal grandfather is Tsin Sikaadnii (Clamp Tree Clan), and her paternal grandfather is Tódích’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan).
Amanda joined the Johns Hopkins University Center for Indigenous Health in November 2020. In her role, she supports data and evaluation activities with the Family Spirit Program. Before joining the Center, Amanda worked at Denver Indian Health and Family Services, an Urban Indian Health Program, coordinating and implementing a project supporting community engagement, traditional foods and movement. Her community research experience includes coordinating adolescent obesity prevention studies at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Amanda received her BS in Biology and MS in Health Education with a concentration in community health education from UNM.
She enjoys spending time with her nephews and nieces and hiking the trails with her pup, Jax.
