Chloe Hurley

Biography

Chloe, a member of the Diné Nation, is ‘Ásh’hi (Salt Clan), born for the Kinyaa’áanii (The Towering House). She joined the Center in February of 2019. Chloe works as a Research Nurse in Fort Defiance, AZ and helps out at other Navajo Nation Sites. Chloe is involved in the implementation, coordination and evaluation of Infectious Disease. As Infectious disease continues to disproportionately affect Native communities, we collaborate with tribal communities to demonstrate the efficacy of new vaccines and other public health strategies, conduct infectious disease surveillance, and support COVID-19 mitigation efforts. Chloe has assisted in Study of an investigational 15- valent pneumococcal vaccine for adults (Adult PCV15 Study), Active bacterial surveillance in communities, COVID-19 Pfizer Vaccine Clinical Trial, COVID-19 Surveillance and Serosurveillance Projects, Haemophilus influenza Rapid Response investigation (HiRRI), HibVax Study, Infant RSV Prevention Study (Melody), RSV Surveillance in Native Americans study (RSV-SuNA), Studies of Convalescent Plasma to Prevent and Treat COVID-19 Disease, and Haemophilus influenzae carriage among southwestern American Indian children.

Prior to joining the Center, Chloe worked with Indian Health Services and local hospitals with the outpatient and inpatient setting. Chloe continues to work for her community by promoting health awareness and preventing health disparities. Helping the elderly population and giving back to the community the best way she can motivates her to continue to work as a Nurse. She states that her elders have taught her what wisdom, respect and humanity is all about.

Chloe has a BSN degree from the University of New Mexico, and is completing the Public Health Training Certificate for American Indian Health Professionals through Johns Hopkins University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Health.
