Biography
Laramie Lunday is currently a third year Family Medicine resident (PGYIII) with the Siouxland Medical Education Foundation. He provides care for many diverse backgrounds, including Native Americans. He has always focused on ways to improve medical care to natives. Which is why he sought out the scholarship to attend Winter Institute. Laramie wanted to gain a better understanding of public health among American Indians/Alaskan Natives. He stated upon his arrival to his first class he experienced culture shock. He stated that taking classes with many other native students and learning about health disparities that are specific to Native Americans was unique.
Laramie received his Medical Degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a pre-medicine emphasis from the University of North Dakota. In the next year Laramie will start his recently accepted position on the Puyallup reservation. He hopes to take a faculty position for the residency program to help teach Native Americans. He is also looking into MPH programs.
