About
Kimberly, a member of the Diné tribe, is Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for the Dziłtł’ahniii (Mountain Cove Clan). Her maternal grandfather is Táchii’ni (Red Running into the Water Clan) and her paternal grandfather is Kiyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan). Kimberly joined the Center for Indigenous Health in September of 2022. She works as a Program Coordinator in Fort Defiance, AZ, where she is involved with the implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Family Spirit program.
Before joining the Center, Kimberly was engaged in Indigenous health through non-profit work focused on community health outreach. In this role, she worked closely with local Native American communities, where she had the opportunity to learn, teach, and mentor local youth. It was during this time that Kimberly discovered her passion for community outreach and her commitment to giving back to her local communities.
In addition to her Family Spirit programming duties, Kimberly serves as a home visitor for the project and has earned certifications as an Indigenous Full-Spectrum Doula and Breastfeeding Counselor to further support her clients. She also contributes her expertise as an active member of the SPIRIT (Family Spirit) Global Advisory Council.
Kimberly is currently pursuing her Associate of Science degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Counseling. Kimberly plans to attend Arizona State University afterwards to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Global Health. In her downtime, Kimberly loves to spend time outdoors with her family hiking, camping, kayaking and fishing.
