About
Mateja is a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. She joined the center in February of 2025, where she works as a Diabetes Family Health Coach in Rapid City, South Dakota. Before joining the Center, Mateja was a nursing student seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge of healthcare. She is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May 2026.
When Mateja is not studying or working with families, she spends her time at home with her dog “Cloudy Ray Cyrus” crafting. She hopes to one day inspire and help the youth of her nation to pursue careers in healthcare. She aspires to help her people, one small step at a time.
