About
Tanya, a member of the Dine Nation, is Todich’ii’nii (Bitter Water Clan), born for the Tsenjikini (Honey Combed Rock People Clan). Her maternal grandfather is Kinyaa’aanii (Towering House Clan), and her paternal grandfather is Honaghaahnii (One Who Walks Around Clan). She joined the Center in June 2006. She works at the Fort Defiance, AZ site as a Research Program Coordinator.
She has worked with the Infectious Disease and Behavioral Health Teams on the Respiratory Syncytial Virus study, Adult Pneumonia study, Active Bacterial Surveillance, Family Spirit study, Together on Diabetes study, Family Spirit Nurture study, and worked on a couple water projects (Hauled Safe Water Assessment Program, Evaluation of Navajo Safe Water Access Project, and the Dine Household Water Survey)that began during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tanya is now focused on implementation with the Family Spirit Program, a maternal & early childhood program. Tanya’s hobbies/interests are whatever includes her three sons (music, games, movies, and traveling). In a very busy and demanding life, she tries to find time to spend with family. Her passion is helping mothers and children.
