About
Ty is a member of the Navajo Nation and was born and raised in Kirtland, New Mexico. His four clans are the Mexican Clan, Cliff Dwellers Clan, Towering House Clan, and Many Hogans Clan.
Ty joined the Center as a Guest Intern in September 2025, where he worked on the Diné Household Water Survey (DHWS) project. He is currently involved in the Honoring Life and Native RISE projects.
Before joining the Center, Ty worked in construction and interior finishing. He also completed internships with the Southwestern Area Health Education Center in Durango, focusing on Native food sovereignty initiatives.
Ty earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Public Health from Fort Lewis College. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration at Western Governors University.
Ty is passionate about improving both his own health and the health of his community. He is dedicated to identifying solutions that expand access to quality healthcare. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, riding his bike, running, and enjoying the outdoors.
