Biography
Sarah joined the Center for Indigenous Health in June of 2016 as a Health Educator working to develop and ensure ongoing behavioral health curriculum programming. She grew up up in the capital city of the Cherokee Nation (Tahlequah, Oklahoma) and witnessed the overwhelming need for behavioral health programs within their community and became interested in sustainable health initiatives at a young age. Sarah works across the behavioral and infectious disease teams. In response to COVID-19, she joined the Center’s Health Communications team to create digital and print materials while serving as a host of the Indigenae podcast. Sarah also works in partnership with Native American LifeLines of Baltimore and Boston, with attention to ongoing health promotion and disease prevention needs.
Sarah has an honors Bachelor’s degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a concentration in Native American Studies from Columbia University. She also holds a Certificate in American Indian Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
