Biography
Elisha Sneddy currently works as a Program Assistant with the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, Inc. She is currently working on the Positive Directions for Native Health Program that addresses substance abuse among Native American youth. Her tasks focused on developing and implementing culturally driven solutions. Elishas main goal is to increase the community engagement and capacity to manage underage drinking and substance misuse in the community. In her free time, she volunteers with the Running Medicine Program. The Running Medicine Program is based on the understanding that running and exercise is a beautiful and potent medicine for the mind, body and spirit. Elisha received her Bachelor of Arts in Native American Studies and Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She would like to obtain a masters in public health degree in the future and go on to medical school. After attending the Winter Institute, she feels she gained a better understanding of how to implement culturally sensitive interventions. However, even more so grew from the connections she made with her peers.
