Biography
Tivona Begay, Diné, is Áshįįhi (Salt People Clan) born for Kinlichii’nii (Red Running into the Water People Clan). Her maternal grandpa is Táchii’nii (TheRed House People Clan) & paternal grandpa is Ma’ii Deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Passing Clan). She joined the Center in August 2024. Tivona is a Research Program Assistant with the Diné Household Water Survey team in Chinle, AZ. She is very excited to be working with the Center and learn more about her community’s experiences and hardships of water access within the Navajo Nation. In the past three years, she has been in the recreational, health, and wellness field learning outreach among other things. Previously, she was employed with the Chinle Chapter AmeriCorps Program. Working for the benefit of her community is what she keeps close at heart in her career journey. Tivona was formerly enrolled with Dine College pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Recently, she transitioned to San Juan College, where she is now working toward an Associate Degree in the Veterinary Technician field.
