Executive Director Allison Barlow, PhD, MPH, who has worked for the Center since its founding in 1991, is honored to be joined by two new visionary Co-Directors, Melissa Walls, PhD, Couchiching First Nation and Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe, and Donald Warne, MD, Oglala Lakota. Building on the decades-long work of Native experts and Center leaders, the 300+ member team will continue to chart a course to support Indigenous communities through strengths-based research, policy, and education. Mathu Santosham, pediatrician, who founded the Center in 1991, remains on the Leadership Team as Director Emeritus.

The Center for Indigenous Health’s work is greatly enhanced by the expertise and counsel of Indigenous public health leaders and educators who share their time as members of our Advisory Councils.  Throughout the year, the Center works closely with Advisory Council members to help guide program development and community engagement. We are grateful for their commitment and their role in shaping the direction of the Center’s work and enhancing relationships in the communities we serve.
