Dedicated Volunteer Commits $25,000 Matching Gift to NativeVision

From now through April 2020, Howard (Cookie) Krongard, a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and longtime volunteer coach and supporter of NativeVision, will match all charitable contributions to NativeVision from new donors, up to $25,000.

NativeVision is a youth development program run by Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health, with the mission to empower and inspire the next generation of Native American leaders. Through NativeVision, Native youth learn about the importance of healthy lifestyles, nutrition, physical activity and education at unique camps held in tribal communities that are led by former professional and college athletes, combined with after school programs for elementary through high school age students.

NativeVision is free for all participants and relies on charitable donations from individuals, foundations and corporations to operate. Mr. Krongard is a generous donor, in addition to volunteering as a lacrosse coach and mentor, and is now seeking to inspire others to give so that many more children may be served.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to help Native American children and double your impact! All contributions are tax deductible and may be made online at http://cih.jhu.edu/giving/ or mailed to Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health, 415 N. Washington St., 4thFloor, Baltimore, MD, 21231. Either way, please be sure to indicate your gift is for the NativeVision, Krongard Match

Native American youth living on reservations today suffer the poorest health, socioeconomic and educational status of any racial or ethnic group in the U.S., with the highest rates of suicide, obesity, diabetes, high school dropout, substance use and poverty. Yet there are incredible strengths within Native communities that NativeVision is able to tap into—values of athleticism, respect for family and elders, and an obligation to do right by the next generation by setting oneself on a healthy path for the future. Give today and join this effort to empower and inspire the next generation of Native American leaders.
