Biography

Emilee (gigizhebaa binesi) is a first-generation descendant of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (maternal) and of French/German descent (paternal). She grew up in Duluth, Minnesota where she still resides with her husband and two boys. Emilee joined the Center in June of 2023 as the Senior Administrative Coordinator at the Great Lakes Hub. Emilee has a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and has 12+ years of experience in tribal health evaluating and auditing internal processes. Working with indigenous communities became a significant part of her work life and she is eager for the opportunity to expand her professional career in continuing to support her community and other tribes.

Outside of work, Emilee enjoys being with her family, hiking and the outdoors.
