Biography
Heather was born and raised on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. She joined the Center for Indigenous Health in 2000 and worked as an administrative assistant for three years. She then rejoined the Center in 2017. She currently works as a Research Program Coordinator in Whiteriver, AZ, and is involved in all behavioral health programs offered through the Center. She works on Celebrating Life, a suicide prevention program, the Elders Resilience program, Southwest Hub, Cancer Care, and Preventing Early Childhood Obesity Part 2 Program (Peco2). She has also assisted as an unblinded verifier for the Pfizer study.
Prior to rejoining the Center, Heather worked as a K-3rd grade Elementary School Librarian for 13 years. During this time, she had the opportunity to work with kids and help promote the love of reading. After her 13 years in education, Heather wanted to return to the Center to assist in the community she grew up in and to bring awareness about suicide prevention to the community.
