Biography

Jordyn Gunville-Pourier, PhD, MPH, Miniconjou Lakota and an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, is a Senior Research Associate for the Great Plains, where she works on a lung cancer project. Her research expertise spans maternal and child health, cancer disparities, and health policy, with a strong emphasis on promoting culturally grounded.

Dr. Gunville-Pourier earned her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. During her academic journey, she was a Susan G. Komen Scholar and an RWJF Health Policy Research Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is deeply committed to advancing health policies that honor cultural beliefs and practices while addressing systemic inequities, ensuring better health outcomes for Native communities.
