Biography
Karla Sorby joined the Center September 1, 2023. She will be working with the Lego project as the Adaptations Manager with international and U.S. partners. She will also work with the training team to provide training for Family Spirit and other curriculums.
Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Karla was the Tribal Nurse Consultant at the Minnesota Department of Health as well as a contract employee with the Center. She has an Associates Degree in American Indian Studies and nursing from Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal college, a BSN from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and a Masters of Science in Education from Bemidji State University with an emphasis in curriculum design and evaluation. She is a descendant of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Dakota in North and South Dakota. Her husband, Craig, is enrolled in the Little Shell Chippewa Tribe in Montana and they make their home in Bemidji, MN.
They enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, and the many traditional ceremonies and activities the region offers.
