Biography
Lisa is a member of the Ojibwe Nation and enrolled in the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She joined the Center for Indigenous Health in January, 2022. She serves as a Senior Research Associate supporting Family Spirit curriculum content development and is involved in supporting research projects associated with curriculum implementation. Lisa received her MPH from the University of Arizona in 2003.
She has focused her career on understanding where public health best practices intersect with Indigenous ways of knowing in support of planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health and home visiting services that benefit Indigenous families. Lisa’s interests include grounding program development, content, evaluation, and research in Tribal community level interests and needs. Her passion is to understand the role that these efforts play in moving toward equity in maternal and infant health and in affirming Tribal sovereignty.
Lisa is based in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
