Biography

Grey Cloud, also known as (A Wica Hde Pin Win) She Brings the People Home Woman, has been with the Center for Indigenous Health (CIH) since 2022. She started out as Administrative Coordinator and Executive Assistant to Dr. Donald Warne the Co-Director of CIH and provost fellow for Indigenous Health Policy at JHU. Grey Cloud grew her skills in project management, community engagement, grants management and data sovereignty. She has also managed many projects that include collaborating with several tribes from the Great Plains region with research programs that include: Diabetes curriculum adaptation, lung cancer cessation materials, a clinical trial to address how substance use disorders impact Indigenous communities, a feasibility study for a new Indigenous medical school concept, and a Lakota Equine Therapy model to address substance use disorders in Indigenous communities. Grey Cloud supported the opening of CIH’s newest satellite site, the Great Plains Hub, in Rapid City, South Dakota in September of 2024.

Grey Cloud is co-chair of the Johns Hopkins Medicine / Johns Hopkins University (JHM/JHU) Indigenous Employee Resource Group and Relatives. Since taking on this role, she has helped educate staff and faculty about better ways to interact with patients and other staff who identify as being American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN). She also connects AI/AN members and allies within and outside of the health system with one another, helping them access resources and tools to be better allies to each other. She is a great leader who humbly exemplifies all of the JHM and CIH core values and was promoted to Associate Director of Operations for the CIH Great Plains Hub in January 2025.
