Biography

Dr. Lynn Mad Plume (Amskapi Piikani) is from Two Medicine, Montana, on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. She joined the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health in May 2025 and currently serves as Program Manager for the Equine and Culturally Grounded Treatment for Substance Abuse Project and the Indigenous School of Medicine (ISOM) Research Agenda Setting Project. In both roles, she supports the development of Indigenous-led solutions that center land-based healing, cultural connection, and wellness.

Lynn brings a strong background in Indigenous health, evaluation, and culturally grounded programming. Her experience spans community health, academic research, and public health leadership, with a focus on uplifting Indigenous knowledge systems. She is especially passionate about the development of Indigenous Equine-Assisted Programs and Services that promote healing and reconnection for Native youth and families. Lynn holds a BS in Community Health and Sociology from Montana State University, an MPH in American Indian Public Health from North Dakota State University, and a PhD in Indigenous Health from the University of North Dakota.

Lynn is dedicated to ensuring her work reflects authenticity and a deep commitment to her community. She values relationality, cultural strength, and the power of collective healing. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her horses and animals in Two Medicine, reading, hiking, and being with her family.
