Biography
Maisie joined the Center for Indigenous Health in March 2021. She currently works as a Research Associate coordinating Our Stories Matter, a community-based participatory research study conducted in partnership with the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe and the Cherokee Nation.
Prior to joining the Center, Maisie has worked in psychology research settings, public health “edu-tainment,” and has volunteered as a writer in several academic spaces. She has also previously assisted with the coordination and implementation of several mental health projects at the Center, such as the Our Smallest Warriors, Our Strongest Medicine storybooks, Psychological First Aid for COVID-19 Frontline Workers in AI/AN Communities, and Indigenous Stories of Strength. She is passionate about the potential of public health research to improve health equity and well-being among Indigenous communities.
Maisie received her BS in Biology from the University of Kansas. In 2022, she received her MSPH in International Health – Social & Behavioral Interventions and a graduate certificate in Health Communication from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
In her free time, Maisie enjoys solving crossword puzzles, cooking new recipes, and writing.
