Pua Lani Yang

Biography

Pua joined the Center in March 2023. She mostly conducts qualitative and mixed methods research centered around machine learning for mental and behavioral health and currently supports efforts to expand the Celebrating Life Suicide Prevention program. Prior to joining the Center, Pua grew in various roles pertaining to international health, community economic development, and implementation science. She credits her experience as a Peace Corps volunteer and supporting grassroots efforts in her home of Hawaiʻi for nurturing her passion for equitable and holistic healthcare. Pua has a BA in Public Health from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and an MSPH degree concentrating in social and behavioral interventions from Johns Hopkins University. She is pursuing a certificate in user experience research and design to further her learning. Outside of work she enjoys lifting weights, birdwatching, and working on her island in Animal Crossing.

She is based out of Oakland, California.
