Rebecca Belone

Biography

Rebecca, a member of the Dibe Lizhini (Black Sheep Clan), born for the Tachiini (Red Running Into the Water). Her maternal grandfather is Tabaahi (Water Edge Clan), and her paternal grandfather is Hashkaa Hadzohi (Yucca Fruit Strung Out in a Line). Rebecca joined the Center in April 2023. She works as a Research Program Assistant in Fort Defiance, AZ, where she assists with the Diné Household Water Survey Project.

Prior to joining the Center, Rebecca was involved in the Public Safety Field with Navajo Nation EMS. During this period, she had the opportunity to provide first aid to the Local Communities. Rebecca developed a passion to help others and to seek ways to better our people. Rebecca will soon pursue her education at Phoenix College for an Associates in Criminal Justice this coming Fall 2023. She also wants to pursue a career in the Local Law Enforcement and to have a widen perspective to better the Navajo Nation in a variety of different ways.
