Biography

Sydney is a descendant of the Prairie Band Potawatomi and Cherokee Nations and is based out of Seattle, Washington. She joined the Center for Indigenous Health in November of 2021. Sydney’s work focuses on the translation of public health research into practice. She serves as Project Manager of the Wise Practices Core, which strives to increase the utilization of public health programs and resources in partnership with Indigenous communities, and the LEGO/SPIRIT project, promoting play and parent support with Indigenous communities internationally. She also works across various other projects at the Center, including the health communication team and the CARE program promoting breast cancer screening. Sydney is passionate about the restoration and promotion of health equity in partnership with communities and is grateful for the opportunity to work with Indigenous partners throughout this work.

Prior to working at the Center, much of her experience focused on direct service and community engagement to promote well-being and uptake of available health resources in educational and clinical settings.

Sydney has an MPH from Johns Hopkins with a certificate in Health Communication and a BA in Sociology and Spanish from Western Washington University. Outside of work, she loves to read, get outside in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, and spend time with friends and family.
