Timeka Watchman

Biography

Timeka is a member of the Navajo Nation. Her clans are Tsenjikini (Cliff Dweller/Honey Combed Rock People Clan) and born for Tabaahi (Water Edge People Clan). Her maternal grandpa is Tlogi (Zia Weaver People Clan) and her paternal grandpa is Totsohnii (Big Water People Clan). She joined the center in June of 2023. Timeka works as a Research Assistant in Fort Defiance, AZ and works with the Behavioral Health program under the Dine Household Water Survey. Prior to joining the Center, Timeka has a variety of work experiences. She recently worked as a Research Assistant at the Community Outreach & Patient Empowerment (COPE) in Gallup, NM under their Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program. She also worked as a Contact Tracer at Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM under Dine College work study. Timeka has a BA degree in Science for Public Health, a Certificate in Public Health, and a AS degree in Science for Health Occupations from Dine College. Timeka’s capstone project for her BA was on Common Food Trends between two schools; Dzil Ditl’ool School of Empowerment and Perseverance in Navajo, NM and Chinle Valley Headstart in Chinle, AZ. Timeka is currently looking into obtaining her MS in Public Health for Nutrition from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.
