Biography

Louis Carl is currently a Health Educator at the Sells Indian Hospital in Sells, Arizona. Over the past nine years he has been promoting, maintaining and improving the health of his community by assisting individuals to adopt healthy behaviors through education programs and wellness activities. These programs are conducted in the local schools, worksites, and villages. His career with the Indian Health Service has provided him with firsthand experience in effectively addressing public health issues in Indian Country. The programs that him and his Health Promotion Disease Prevention team provide have shown to be effective when it comes to tackling health issues, due to innovative and culturally appropriate material they provide. Louis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Management from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. With training from Johns Hopkins, Louis hopes to be able to empower individuals to make lifestyle changes that reduce their risks of developing chronic diseases and other morbidities.
