I plan to continue my work with the Native American population. Native Americans can benefit from a strong, culturally sensitive leader who will provide that connection to community resources and deliver the education needed.
Biography
Melanie McMichael currently works as a Registered Nurse at the White Earth Behavioral Health where she is a part of the Medication Assisted Treatment Program. She provides behavioral and emotional support and supervision to those with substance abuse disorder, while maintaining safety and patient dignity. Melanie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Upon her attendance at the Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health Winter Institute, she felt her knowledge in public health only grew making her want to further her education and receive a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. She plans to continue working in her community of White Earth with her objective of wanting to be a catalyst for the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health and wellness, thus providing high quality and safe patient care.
