Title: Institute Scholars

My goal would be to restructure the institutional model of healthcare. An ideal institutional model would be one that integrates culture and traditions into healthcare. We not only need cultural humility in the healthcare setting itself, but we also need it when it comes to educating our healthcare. I want to be able to change the way we teach and credential our healers, our providers of our native people.
Biography
Tempest Dawson currently works as a Health System Data Analyst and Quality Assurance Administrator for the Tulalip Health System where she compiles and summarizes data results and provides support coordination to current projects. Tempest holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Management and Policy from the University of North Dakota and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Simpson University. From her attendance at the Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health Winter Institute she was given additional tools to continue to fight for health policies that will positively impact Native Communities. Tempest is planning to complete the Johns Hopkins Public Health Training Certificate. She enjoyed taking An Interdisciplinary Approach to Understanding the Health of Native Americans and is looking forward to taking the seven remaining courses. She feels that she has a good public health foundation, and she is hoping the certificate program will only continue to strengthen her skills.
